Content Standard : 2.2 By the end of the 6 year primary schooling, pupils will be able to
demonstrate understanding of a variety of linear and non linear
texts in the form of print and non-print materials using a range of
strategies to construct meaning.
3.1 By the end of the 6 year primary schooling, pupils will be able to
form letters and words in neat legible print including cursive
writing.
Learning Standard : 2.2.1 Able to read and apply word recognition and word attack skills
by matching words with : a) graphic
2.2.2 Able to read and understand phrases in linear and non-linear
texts with guidance.
3.1.2 Able to copy and write in neat legible print: d) words
Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
a) read and recognize words.
b) match the words to the pictures.

While Activity (10 minutes) | Teacher shows the flashcards of “ can keep at home”, “ cannot keep at home”, and “ keep on the farm” then asks pupils read aloud. Teacher asks a few pupils stand in front of the class and show the animals pictures cards. Pupils say out the names of the animals and make their sounds. Discussion Questions: 1. What animals is this? 2. What is the sound of this animal? | Pupils read the words. (Appendix 1) Pupils volunteer verbal responses. (Appendix 2) |
Post Activity (15 minutes) | Teacher pastes the flashcards on the whiteboard and asks pupils to categories and paste the animals pictures card and their names in the correct table. | Pupils take turns to paste the animals pictures card on the whiteboard. (Appendix 3) |
Closure (2 minutes) | Teacher hands out the worksheet and asks pupils to complete the exercise. | Pupils listen and complete the exercise. (Appendix 4) |
